SALLY FITZGIBBONS BOARD COMPETITION
Design
Back in 2012 I was really into my Red Bull and following the World Surfing Tour, I randomly saw a competition online from Red Bull saying you could design Sally Fitzgibbons surfboard – and it’d be used for a year. Without question I was in.
With the template Red Bull provided I got to it with some idea sketches – along with some more artistic thoughts I knew a monogram icon of “SF” was one way I wanted to go. Other iconic athletes had them, why not Sally?
I handed in my designs and weeks went by after the end date, and nothing. Then out of the blue I got an email saying I was in the top 5 and going to the event to reveal the winner. I was stunned when they called I’d won. Sally went on to use it that year on just about everything from her boards to her sponsored car.
But the thing I’m most proud about this is since Sally started using it in 2012 – she’s still using it to this day.
